Delaware Avenue Baptist |

|
The
main portion of the Delaware Avenue Baptist Church was constructed with
Medina sandstone. This south tower is
the larger of the two towers. Just to
the right of the tower is a smaller Greek cross window. A matching window appears on the church’s
north side. South elevation, 2000, by author. |

This
church has three Greek cross centered stained glass windows. They are the first known use of this design
by Coxhead, but he repeats the design in several other subsequent buildings. Center Greek cross window from the interior. 2000, by author. |

To
raise money for the construction of the church the congregation sold its
original church, leaving them without a place to worship. They made an arrangement with Temple Beth
Zion to worship in their building until this rear area was completed. They then worshipped here until the front
of the church was ready. |
