Another extant building in the area is the McKinney Stables, in Cuba, NY, which Coxhead designed in 1907 (and was built from 1907-1909).  This massive 33,000 square foot concrete block structure with a terra cotta roof, estimated to cost $200,000 to build, was one of the first truly fireproof structures in the United States and was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

 

In 1909, Coxhead designed two hospital buildings in Jamestown, NY.  Both are still extant, although the main hospital building has been severely and unsympathetically altered.

 

Perhaps the most impressive extant building designed by Coxhead, however, is the J. N. Adam Tuberculosis Hospital in Perrysburg, NY.  This complex, designed in 1909 and opened in 1912, is considered to be one of the finest hospitals of its time, sporting wide south-facing balconies off each patient ward and a beautiful round and domed dining room with entire walls of French door-styled windows.

 

During this time, Coxhead also designed buildings in Virginia, Kentucky, Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
